Biography

Harriet Tregoning led the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama Administration.  Her work at HUD encompassed helping states, regions, and localities build a strong foundation for resilience and for a diverse and prosperous economy based on enhancing community quality of place, economic opportunity, fiscal stability, transportation choice, and housing affordability. Tregoning was previously Director of the DC Office of Planning, where she led the first comprehensive zoning revision in more than 50 years; major changes included allowing Accessory Dwelling Units by right in most residential zones. She is now working with a coalition of organizations in DC to help implement the new Accessory Dwelling Unit provisions.
